I came across this online service called ‘Gtalk Profile‘ that allows users to create their profiles on Google Maps, If you logon to this site, it would open up Google Map with Indicators showing people profiles country wise. There you can get yourself registered and depending on your profile privacy setting i.e Public or Private people can make contact with you and you can explore it to see who has the online profile in your area.
To me this really sounds like amazing online service especially for people who want to build online community and make friends with the people living in the same area as they do. Do give it a try :-}
