Despite the fact that Alexa is a pretty much controversial web tool to analyze the site popularity yet many people and some ad networks do consider it to determine or get a rough idea about the popularity of any website. Yahoo the 2nd most popular search engine had maintained 1st position in Alexa Global Ranking for long time. While we all know that Google already dominates the search market by vast margin however it’s primary domain ‘Google.com’ was ranked No.2 by alexa it could be mainly because Google.com is mostly used by US visitors as google has more country based domains than Yahoo! for instance Pakistani visitors see ‘ google.com.pk’ and while Pakistani visitors are directed to Yahoo.com the primary domain for Yahoo since Yahoo don’t have country based domain for Pakistan. so there is no question that Google is way popular than all other search engines, but I am talking about it’s primary domain ‘Google.com’ in particular which has also been elevated to No.1 position previously held by Yahoo.com for long time. Which again demonstrates that Google is getting even more popular in the US market.
