For past couple of weeks there has been a lot of buzz over the internet about new ‘type’ of search engine Wolfram Alpha which by no means is google killer as some might think, If you input the query at Wolfram for ‘what are you’ it displays you result with the basic definition of the search and that is ‘ A computational engine ‘. I run several queries and some of them displayed very detailed results that you can’t expect from Google. However for some other search like ‘iphone price’ it had no idea. So it’s right to call it knowledge engine but i don’t think it’s fair to compare it with any ‘Search’ Engine since this is not how it is designed. It’s not a search engine at all. It will only bring statistics and data for certain queries. Very helpful if you are looking to find population of a certain city or a country like that.
