Jang Newspaper’s Official Website Jang.com.pk is seems to be under malware attack and has been deducted as Attack Site by Google Earlier. Jang Newspapers is one of the most popular websites in Pakistan for Online News stories coverage in addition to their Popular TV News Channel Website Geo.tv
So far what the information i have gathered that it seems to result of malicious code installed on the site, and as of writing this blog post this problem has not been fixed so I would suggest the visitors not to logon to the site until this issue has been resolved. The Malicious installed on the website possibly could install some software mostly known as spyware on users computers without their consent. If you already using modern web browser like Firefox then you would see warning in place as you enter the URL of the site so that you don’t logon to their site.
Update: It seems like that this issue has been resolved as i tried to logon to the site and the Warning message did not show up.
I doubt this is an “attack”. Most likely its due to some malicious code placed by one of jang’s advertisers. Due to the tough economic situation a lot of advertising networks have lowered their requirements and are no longer as strict as they used to be when admitting advertisers. Because of the failure of the ad networks to filter out malicious code, publishers like jang suffer. Jang will need to be more careful about what ad networks it uses in future.
Jang.com.pk again infected with Malware on 14 July 2009.
