Did you know when you rotate a JPEG image most of the Image Editors decode the image to Bitmap and rotate it and then again re-encode it to JPEG and this process however results in loss of quality to the original Image. This is something new that i learned today. However Luckily there is a Free Software tool called ‘ JPEG Lossless Rotator ‘ which would rotate the JPEG images saved on your computer while keeping its quality intact. Therefore it’s my most favorite pick of the day.

So unlike the most common Image Editors like MS PhotoPaint, JPEG Lossless rotator does not recode the image to Bitmap and then back to JPEG, on the other hand it performs a special lossless block transformation instead which keeps the image quality intact and the rotated image has the same quality as of the original image. In addition to this it has user-friendly UI which is available in various languages. Here are some of the prominent features of this Software:
- Shell integration (this allows you to rotate your JPEG photos by a right-click on the file)
- Command line
- Automatic rotation
- Batch rotation
- EXIF-data display
- Multilingual interface: Catalan, Chinese (simpl), Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish and Thai.
JPEG Lossless Rotator is Freeware and is available in both Installer and Portable Version and supports Windows 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP 32 bit & 64 bit, Server 2003, Vista 32 bit & 64 bit, Server 2008 (please note, the shell integration may not work in 64 bit platforms at the moment)
