Recently I have been observing Websites and Blogs that attract massive traffic (Over 25K visitors/day) from Search Engines particularly from Google. So It’s no secret that backlinks (links that point to your blog) play vital role in determination of the Search rank for any Website. And Google has clearly mentioned it on its Webmasters guideline.

Your site’s ranking in Google search results is partly based on analysis of those sites that link to you. The quantity, quality, and relevance of links count towards your rating

However recently I observed Tech blogs who didn’t have many backlinks but still they were ranking high in Google Search results, and further investigation revealed those blogs were lucky enough to get listed on Techmeme. Techmeme is one of the most popular News Resource for Internet and Technology. And this is the site that in my opinion Google trusts heavily because very a few blogs make to the listing of Techmeme since their criteria to include a Blog on their site is pretty strict.

So you may not have many backlinks but If some of them come from sites that Google trusts heavily like the Techmeme then you can definitely increase your chance of Ranking High in Google and other Search Engines.

And Now arises another question How to get listed on Techmeme ?

Well, Techmeme is a News aggregator for Technology News, So If you have written a piece on latest gadgets, Startups etc then they would most probably consider your Blog. If you are able to break a story then you get almost 90%+ chance to get listed on Techmeme. However they do include other blogs who actually didn’t break the story but have given their own and different opinion. Moreover If you are a Twitter user you can submit your Tech News Stories to Techmeme using below format:

Tip @techmeme URL [space] Headline of the News Story

This tutorial is valid for all other Websites as well however particularly written for Websites or Blogs related to Internet and Technology. And this post is part of SEO guides that I have been writing recently on this blog, for further reading I would recommend, How to get backlinks, Google Indexation CapSearch Engine Friendly Robots.txt for a WordPress Blog.
