For most of the Internet users Google is known to them as the Best Search Engine and free Email service provider, which they use to search for stuff as weird as ‘ Why does my girlfriend ….. ‘ , anyhow apparently this is not the case any longer. Google wants to see its logo on everything that exists on the planet earth, it won’t be surprising to me if you see a Google-powered vehicles in years ahead with more ‘enhanced’ capabilities to search the routes for you through their Google maps etc. Which in principle does not seem bad. However you don’t have to get into car manufacturing to demonstrate the power of your maps.
Google is the ‘master’ in the Web Search but seems like they are now turning into an organization which is master of none and jack of all trades. They are now invading every market they can, be it OS Market , Mobile Phone Market, or netbook market. If they are more than ‘fortunate’ they would possibly end up being the leaders in all of these and other Markets like they are in Web Search and bring all of their competitors down to their knees. However for this to happen they would have to be more ‘fortunate’ as i mentioned above than being more ‘intelligent’.
And If somehow things don’t quite work out well as they planned. And They don’t succeed in other Markets, It possibly could result in an overall damage to the Google brand which plays significant role in the leadership of their Web Search. Yes I know their search algorithms are way too cool than the rest of the competitors. However if you take blind Internet Search Test, which shows the search results of the major three search engines (Google/Bing/Yahoo) for a certain query without revealing their logos and ask you to pick which one is better. And you might be stunned by your choice.
Anyhow I am a Fan of Google, They certainly help me in many ways on the Internet and in my daily life. However I am yet to see if they succeed in other markets as well, Nexus One has just been released, It looks cool but frankly nothing mind-blowing. And I guess it would piss off Motorola Droid more than iPhone people. Which in my opinion is not a good thing for Google after all Android is something they take more pride in isn’t ?
