Step by Step Guide to Jailbreak iOS 4.0.1 on iPhone 3GS using PwnageTool Bundle for MAC only.
Alright Folks, Here is the detailed tutorial for Jailbreaking iOS 4.0.1 update on iPhone 3GS (Old Bootrom only) using Pwnagetool bundle. Mind you, This bundle is not released by the Dev-Team, they have yet to update the PwnageTool original Software to Support iOS 4.0.1 – This is meant for advanced users who already have experience with Jailbreaking and building Custom Firmware File using PwnageTool. (Please do read our Site Disclaimer before proceeding)
What Do you Require:
1. MAC Computer
2. PwnageTool [http://blog.iphone-dev.org/]
3. PwnageTool Bundle [http://www.mediafire.com/?am6asjz2r1d6ocq]
4. iPhone 3GS (old bootrom) and already Jailbroken
5. iTunes 9.2 .1 [http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/]
Step 1. Download PwnageTool and PwnageTool Bundle (See above) save it in a folder on your Desktop Called ‘ PWN ‘ (or any name you want to use for this tutorial it’s ‘PWN’
Step 2. Open the Terminal App and run below commands., It would add the Custom Bundle to PwnageTool
- cd /Users/USERNAME/Desktop/PWN
- ls -al
- mv iPhone2,1_4.0.1_8A306.bundle PwnageTool.app/Contents/Resources/FirmwareBundles/
- exit
Step 3. Now Build the Custom Firmware file using PwnageTool (above) and restore it using iTunes on your iPhone 3GS.
